These two will forever have a special place in my heart. They were my first wedding where I was lead photographer, and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple and wedding to shoot!
The day began and ended at Lee House, one of my favorite venues here in Pensacola. It was a very cloudy day and the threat of rain hung in the sky, but lucky for them, the rain held off and the cloudy sky made for gorgeous wedding photos of the newlywed couple! (Sunny days and sunsets are beautiful, no doubt, but there’s something about grey skies that make my heart happy!)
You know how some couples have a sand pouring thing during their ceremony? Well they did the same type of thing, but with wine. They each took turns and poured wine into a single glass and then drank it. This was a couple after my own heart for sure! For the reception they hired a band called Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters, who knew how to make their guest sing and dance like no one was watching! One of the singers came out to the dance floor with a mic while singing “I Will Survive” and held the mic out to the Jackie…and boy did she sing her heart out! It was THE BEST thing ever! I LOVED capturing that moment!
As if all this wasn’t enough to explain how fun of a couple these two were, they also did the limbo at the reception! It was both impressive and hilarious to see not only the bride and groom get down low, but the guests as well!
When it came to cutting the cake, they had decided they wanted to make it a little more intimate and not have everyone surround them while doing so. We have never had a couple do it like this before, and I thought it was a pretty cool idea for two reasons: 1.) They could enjoy it being just the two of them and not have to worry about everyone else. 2.) I didn’t have to worry about a hoard of people crowding into a tight space just to watch them cut cake while I’m trying to photograph the moment. So it benefited us both, really! Not to mention I also caught them slow dancing in front of the cake table on my way in!
They ended the night with a second line (I know right?!) and a good old fashioned sparkler exit. I enjoyed every minute of this wedding… It was definitely one for the books!
